The NOS S10 isn't your average Small Block Chevy swapped, stock suspension, leaf spring, s-10...
The S10 started out how most v-8 S-10 swaps would... an old 350ci SBC out of a 78' Suburban, An upgraded 700r4 Tranny, a 4.11 Gear swap, with the addition of a mini spool. The goal in mind was 12.00 Footbrake bracket racer that could cruise and do anything you'd want it to.
"The Problem's started when the local street racers started itching to try out the supposed "NOS-S10" (The Liscense Plate we put on the truck because we thought it was cool to have a 125 shot on a cheater plate). "With the Street Race Culture on the rise, we started to grow an interest in making the truck a little faster, and more competitive, should it wind up in a race with some loud mouth punk in a turbocharged import!."
It wasn't long after the trucks first street race, that it was getting more nitrous, and a bigger motor! "A 383 was the answer we thought, and a 200 Shot should surely put us in a better position. The addition of Homemade Cal-Trac Style Traction Bars enabled our first Street Wheelie."
The truck ran performed very well on the street, beating a lot of cars that it seemed it shouldn't have. NOS S10 accumulated a very good record with less than a few losses.
"However, with winter, comes upgrades, and with nitrous, comes parts failure! Especially with KB Hypereutectic Pistons on a 250 Shot! We decided to build a 400ci SBC that would make more power, and not have to use as much spray to make it run..."
"But we just ended up spraying it with the same amount, and destroying the stock, weak 400 Block. The 700r4 Transmission was no match for any power above 500HP so we ditched it for a TH400 3 speed with a trans brake! We went through 3 or 4 stock 10 bolt rear ends as well through the whole process. Finally we had to upgrade the stock rear shocks from old napa gas shocks to Viking Double Adjustables, and had some chassis work done to keep it from twisting itself into a pretzel. An aftermarket block was purchased along with some AFR 220cc Heads, uprgraded the nitrous and fuel system to a Cross-hair plate, which is basically a Sledgehammer plate with Induction Solutions Solenoids. We were in business now. The truck accumulated over 50 wins and only a few losses on the street in a short period of time, and made a name for itself."
The "NOS-S10 gained most of it's fame after racing Daddy Dave from Street Outlaws in an incident where he was in town almost randomly getting work done on one of his tow vehicles. Then later on, racing YouTuber Roman Atwood in his GTR. The S10 always seems to have lots of media attention, and is always getting into big races with some of the fastest street raced cars in the area.
Over the course of 3 years the truck has come a long way from a 12 second Bracket Car, to a small tire heads up ride. "The S10 remains a small tire stock suspension street car, and our plans are doing no preps, and heads up races at Pacemakers Dragway Park in 2018."
Future plans currently in motion are switching from nitrous to twin turbo power. Watch out for this truck in 2018 because it is always getting faster!
