The boys are in
Robert Nau and his family Team known as the "AMC Boys" as many call them have made their way into the Untouchable No Prep Shootout sponsored by Trick Flow Specialties. Roberts team includes his son-in law James, Son Robert Nau II, and Brother Ben Nau, the Driver of this wicked AMC Gremlin. An opportunity arose for the AMC to get in the shootout when racer Bryan Ellithorpe of Arkansas was unable to finish his car in time, leaving an open spot in the 32 car invitational.
History of the car
Ben tells us, "I bought the car in 1992 off of a friend with the factory 304 v8. It has had a few engine combos through the years each one faster than the last. In 2006 we changed the all iron AMC to a AMC/Indy aluminum block/heads along with there intake with a single stage direct port recently flowed by Steve Johnson. The engine internals consist of a moldex crank/Carrillo rods, and wiseco pistons. Ladder bar rear with QA1s / stock front suspension with santhuff shocks." Yes, the AMC is still AMC powered, and it runs very well. We are very pleased to see the diversity of cars in this race, this car is sure to be a crowd favorite on April 20th.
No Prep No Problem
The AMC Boys aren't rookies when it comes to racing on No Prep and Street like surfaces, in fact last year they won the Quaker City No Prep defeating John Quick in the final round. In addition, It is quite possible we could see the two in a final round rematch once again on April 20th.
